Lynne Abeles
Lynne Abeles, soprano, has established herself as a new and exciting presence on the stage. A consummate actress, Lynne receives much praise for her commitment to character and text. Recent credits include: Nadina in The Chocolate Soldier at the Bard Summerscape Music Festival, Judy in This is the Rill Speaking with Chelsea Opera, and a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall. She is currently performing in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera- as the Spanish Lady and Carlotta cover.
Lynne has studied drama at Terry Schreiber Studios in NYC and majored in theatre at the University of Southern California. She then transferred to the University of Miami, where she received a B.M. in Vocal Performance and a minor in theatre. At UM, she performed the roles of Giannetta in The Elixir of Love, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Yum Yum in The Mikado and Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
Lynne hails from South Florida, and comes from an extremely artistic family. Her brothers are actors and musicians, her mother a voice teacher, and her father an accomplished amateur pianist and music lover. While living in Florida she sang with Miami’s Grammy nominated Seraphic Fire, a fully professional chamber ensemble specializing in both early and modern music.
